To halt Covid strains, Ireland requires quarantine from more nations

DUBLIN, Ireland: The Irish government has added 13 more countries to its list of "high-risk" travel.

People arriving from these countries will be required to quarantine for 14 days in special hotels.

Currently, arrivals from these countries may quarantine any place. Within weeks, however, designated hotels will be the only place allowed for quarantines.

The new countries Ireland will require arrivals to quarantine include Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.

These 13 countries were added to the earlier list of 20 countries in which those arriving in Ireland must quarantine upon arrival.

Officials have said the new countries added to the quarantine list will help to ensure new variants of the Covid strain will be contained.

Also, the larger country quarantine list places Ireland with travel requirements that are similar to those in place in Britain.
